The basics:
- Organic Search (SEO) – natural search ranking based on links exchange with affiliates and partners
- Paid Search (PPC) - pay-per-click search based on keywords
- Local Search – natural search based on information pulled from third party sites such as yellow pages and business directories
My experience:
- Google AdWords
- Yahoo! Search Engine Marketing (once Overture)
- MIVA (once FindWhat)
- Shopzilla (once BizRate) – comparison shopping engine
- Shopping.com (once DealTime) - comparison shopping engine
I made my first steps in the field of the search engines back in 2004. This was the rise of this type of marketing tools and as an unexplored and unknown territory the search engines were quite an effective tool in terms of cost, traffic and sales of every online-based business. Of course a correct setup was needed, which was a challenge for such a new tool. The correct setup included everything from proper use of the available reports up to the flexible bidding for keywords, which I consider the easiest and fun part (once you have the full information about searches, keywords, ROI (return on investment on each and every single keyword), competitors, strategies and most importantly - sales). Such a setup could turn your search engine marketing into a powerful tool, able to bring you crazy levels of sales and profits… I felt its power about 6 months after I have started to work with these. I have made my researches, I have collected the data that I needed and I have gained some knowledge and experience and I just put everything in sync. The result was tripled sales, revenue and profits for my company by that time. I will be quite fair if I say that 90% of this success was based on the search engines. Of course nowadays the search engine marketing is a little bit overused and therefore not as profitable as it used to be in the good old days. But still it is a tool to be considered for every marketing specialist out there.
Creativity
Graphic design and visual art have always been part of who I am. From the first crayon sun on the wall to the latest web site, banner or camera shot – they all represent my zest for versatile, colorful, vibrant life
Professionalism
Marketer by education, profession and mindset I believe the good research and analyses lead to good planning and results. And then there is the full array of communication channels to present, inform and educate - from the dynamic search engine marketing and social media optimization to the simple but mandatory business card
Precision
The web will never stop amazing me - its richness, its limitlessness, its diversity. My jealousy for the developers being part of this magic has had a fair influence on my HTML, CSS, XML and even action script skills. But being much closer to the business world my contribution has always been limited to the web content management – its accuracy, its sufficiency, its visualization and its detailed representation
